Last Drop Distillers to Release Trio of Vintage Spirits – Bourbon, Rum, Cognac

Bourbon

October 28, 2020

The Last Drop Distillers announced an autumn release that will feature three different spirits: a Bourbon distilled in 1980, a 43-year-old Jamaican rum and a vintage cgnac from 1959.

The Sazerac-owned distillery will release The Last Drop Autumn Collection in extremely limited quantities.

Here’s a quick look at each spirit:

  • 1980 Buffalo Trace Bourbon Whiskey: Distilled at what was then George T. Stagg Distillery (now Buffalo Trace Distillery), this bourbon was vatted in 2000, having been found during an inventory in 1998. The spirit then spent the next 20 years in stainless steel. Only 240 bottles of this 90-proof whiskey will be available worldwide, with a MSRP of $4,600.
  • 1976 “Overproof” Very Old Jamaica Rum: The first-ever rum release from Last Drop, this one was distilled in Jamaica, made its way to Liverpool, England, and finally was purchased by Last Drop. Aged 43 years, the 135.8 proof rum was distilled from pure cane sugar. $3,400.  There are 183 bottles available worldwide, and the MSRP is $3,400.
  • 1959 Vintage Grande Champagne Cognac: Matured for more than 60 years in its original barrel, it was hit hard by Angel’s Share, leaving only enough for 21 bottles. Proof is 81.6 and MSRP is $5,200.

The Autumn Collection will be available in November, and each bottle comes with a companion 50ml miniature and tasting book.
