Buffalo Trace Donates Stagg Jr. Barrel for Auction; Will Add Brand to Barrel Select Program in 2021

Buffalo Trace Distillery has never released a Stagg Jr. barrel to the public, but through Dec. 3 there’s a chance to get your hands on one.

The distillery donated the barrel along with a VIP experience at Buffalo Trace to the St. Jude Gifts that Give Auction to raise funds and awareness to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is dedicated to ending childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

The kicker here is that Stagg Jr. will enter the Buffalo Trace single barrel select program in 2021; the donated barrel is the first of the barrels from that program.

The auction includes everything from dinner with celebrities to luxury vacation packages. The Buffalo Trace package includes not only the barrel, but the distillery experience with a stay for eight at the Stagg Lodge and more.

Here’s the full description from the auction: “Enjoy a VIP visit to the historic Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. You and up to seven guests will enjoy a stay at the brand new Stagg Lodge, a chef prepared lunch, and a VIP tour of Buffalo Trace, which will include a private tasting of four barrels of Stagg Jr. bourbon. At the end of your tour, you will be offered the first ever opportunity to purchase a privately sold barrel of Stagg Jr, which will include personalized bottles yielded from your barrel. This one in a lifetime experience is a whiskey lover’s dream!”

If you’re interested, you can bid online. Just be forewarned that, as of this writing, the highest bid has reached more than $60,000.
