The governor of Arkansas just delivered a new law that is expected to boost the spirits industry.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson signed SB 32 into law this week, allowing home delivery of spirits, beer and wine from retail liquor stores and other permit holders.

Home delivery of distilled spirits from liquor stores and other off-premise retailers is currently allowed in more than 30 states, plus D.C. Home delivery from restaurants and bars is allowed in 24 states plus D.C.

As with all alcoholic beverage purchases, age verification is required for purchase and serving intoxicated customers is prohibited.

“Innovative measures like home delivery of spirits have created convenience for consumers and a safe alternative way for adults to purchase and enjoy their favorite spirits at home during the pandemic,” Kristi Brown, Distilled Spirits Council of the United States Senior Director of State Government Relations, said. “States all across the U.S. have allowed for home delivery of spirits to provide additional choices for consumers and generate much-needed revenue for hospitality businesses. We applaud Governor Hutchinson for signing this measure into law.”
