O.H. Ingram River Aged Whiskey Now Available in Kentucky

Bourbon

February 18, 2021

O.H. Ingram River Aged Whiskey is heading to Kentucky. Nashville-based Brown Water Spirits announced the whiskey series, which launched in October, is now available throughout the Kentucky market.

The whiskey is aged in a unique floating rickhouse moored on the bank of the Mississippi River in Ballard County, Ky. There have now been two releases in the series, with a third planned. A straight whiskey was released last October, followed by a straight rye in December. A wheated bourbon is slated for release in late 2021.

What does aging on the river do for the whiskey itself? According to a news release, it doesn’t age the whiskey faster, but the distillery claims it leverages the rise and fall of the river and its unique climate, to “provoke a unique interaction between wood and spirit that can’t be replicated inside a  traditional rickhouse” and make the whiskey taste as if it is more mature than it actually is.

“We aren’t speeding up the aging process, our whiskey just works harder,” Brown Water Spirits founder and proprietor Hank Ingram said in a news release.
