Booker's Bourbon Mighty Fine Batch 2023-03 bottle and box

James B. Beam Distilling announced the release of Booker’s Bourbon Batch 2023-03, “Mighty Fine Batch,” named for Booker Noe’s signature phrase, “mighty fine.”

Each small batch Booker’s picks has a different story to tell, and the release is named thusly. Noe was known to use the phrase to compliment anything he approved of, from his namesake bourbon to his country ham. In fact, he would often get together with others in the whiskey industry to taste samples of Booker’s Bourbon, and everyone knew he was happy with his selection when he sipped it and said it was “mighty fine,” followed by, “that’s a damn good batch!”

Shortly before Booker passed away in 2004, his son, Seventh Generation Beam Master Distiller Fred Noe, was in charge of selecting the barrels for a Booker’s Bourbon batch. Fred was a little nervous at first – he had big shoes to fill, after all – but after Booker tasted the sample, he looked at Fred and said, “Mighty fine job, son.”

A lot of people thought it was one of the best batches, but receiving Booker’s vote of confidence made it that much more special for Fred – a moment he will never forget.

Mighty Fine Batch was aged 7 years, one month, 10 days and is bottled at 126.6 proof. It is now available nationwide in limited quantities with a suggested retail price of $89.99 for a 750 mL. Previous releases in this year’s series include 2023-01 Charlie’s Batch and 23-02 Apprentice Batch.

Booker’s Bourbon is always bottled at barrel strength and barrels are chosen from the center of the rackhouse to achieve the desire flavor profiles.
