Buzzard's Roost Whiskey Row Experience front KDA Speakeasy

Buzzard’s Roost Sipping Whiskey has created a new Speakeasy in its Whiskey Row home, designed to host an exciting new guest experience.

The Buzzard’s Roost Speakeasy will accommodate up to eight guests for a one-hour experience entitled, “Sipping in Secret.” Developed by Buzzard’s Roost Whiskey Education Director Susan Reigler, “Sipping in Secret” tells the story of how Prohibition shaped America’s cocktail culture into what it is today, and offers guests a taste of how and what people were sipping for the 13 years when spirits were prohibited on the open market.

Guests will be entertained with history and story-telling and they’ll taste “White Lightning” straight from the Buzzard’s Roost still. A period cocktail popular in the days of Prohibition will round out the experience. Reservations are $28 per person and can be made online starting June 14. “Sipping in Secret” will be offered on Thursdays and Sundays at 4 p.m. and reservations are now open. Click here to book.

“What sets us apart on Whiskey Row are our experiences,” says Buzzard’s Roost Co-founder and CEO Judy Hollis Jones. “Our experiences are fun, immersive ways for guests to deepen their whiskey knowledge, and the new ‘Sipping in Secret’ experience in our Speakeasy created by Susan Reigler offers a fascinating look at how people got creative in order to continue sipping in the days of Prohibition.”

To celebrate the launch of the new Speakeasy, Buzzard’s Roost is throwing a party. The date is June 14 — National Bourbon Day – and the time 4-7 p.m. Location: Buzzard’s Roost Whiskey Row Experience at 624 W. Main Street in downtown Louisville. RSVPs are not necessary.

Guests will get the first look at the new Buzzard’s Roost Speakeasy, and cocktails and light bites will be served. A cash bar will also be available.

The Buzzard’s Roost Speakeasy also can be reserved for private barrel tastings and other VIP tasting events. Catering for small groups can be arranged.
