Beam Releases Little Book Chapter 9 – ‘None for Granted’
James B. Beam Distilling Co. released the newest expression in its Little Book collection: Chapter 9 – “None for Granted.”
Per Master Distillery Freddie Noe, the expression is his way of “paying homage to the founding flavors that made modern American Whiskey.”
The bourbon is a blend of five different expressions: An 11-year-old bourbon; an 8-year-old bourbon; two different 7-year-old bourbons, and an 8-year-old rye. According to a story in Food & Wine, one of the expressions included brown rice in the mashbill, while another underwent extended fermentation.
Noe reportedly spent 18 months creating the blend that became Chapter 9, and the process involved several different experimental blends before finding the right combination.
“Chapter 9 takes us back several decades, to an era when whiskey as we know it was just finding its feet,” Noe said. “As possibilities were explored and foundations were laid, a certain profile began to emerge: one built on brown sweets, the comforting warmth of vanilla, creamy caramel and big oak.”
Noe creates the annual Little Book releases in tribute to his grandfather, legendary Beam Master Distiller Booker Noe and his legacy of distilling.
“I and countless others wouldn’t be making the whiskey we’re making without the flavors captured in Chapter 9 – the profile pioneered at the start of modern American Whiskey,” Noe said.
Little Book Chapter 9 – None for Granted is bottled at 121.8 proof and has an SRP of $160.
