The Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) is inviting members to participate in its upcoming Congressional Fly-In in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 24, giving industry leaders a unique opportunity to meet directly with federal lawmakers and advocate for policies that support their businesses and the spirits sector.

During the fly-in, distillers will connect with their elected representatives and congressional staff to share their stories, challenges and the economic contributions of the distilled spirits industry. Discussions will focus on key issues facing the U.S. spirits sector and the role of distilleries in supporting jobs, tourism, agriculture and communities across the country.

“Nothing is more effective than having distillers, both large and small, share their experiences directly with policymakers,” DISCUS President and CEO Chris Swonger, said in a news release. “These meetings help ensure lawmakers understand the positive impact our industry has on local economies and the issues that matter most to distilleries, their employees and consumers.”

Following the fly-in, members are invited to attend DISCUS’ signature rooftop event, The Cocktail Party, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The special event will bring together hundreds of guests, including Members of Congress, executive branch officials, embassy representatives, media and prominent business, policy and association leaders.

Attendees will enjoy an evening of networking, live music, signature cocktails and exclusive tasting tables showcasing products from DISCUS member companies against the backdrop of the U.S. Capitol.
