Glen Scotia 15 Year bottle on white

Glen Scotia announced the release of its heralded Glen Scotia 15-Year-Old Campbeltown unpeated Scotch whisky. The expressions are available through the Foley Family Wines & Spirits distribution network.

At 92 proof, Glen Scotia 15-Year-Old is a non-chill filtered, unpeated whisky that captures the maritime characteristics Campbeltown Scotch whisky is famous for. Glen Scotia 15-Year-Old is available at retailers across the US and online at us.glenscotia.com with an SRP of $119.99 for a 750ml bottle.

Campbeltown is one of the few regions that has a unique, identifiable flavor profile found nowhere else: a maritime character with a thick, oily mouthfeel and essence of tropical green fruits and citrus.

Made with 100% malted barley sourced from the east coast of Scotland and water tapped at Crosshill Loch, the whisky is distilled on a swan neck, copper pot still, barreled in first fill ex-bourbon barrels, and aged in both dunnage and palletized warehouses that are maritime-adjacent along the Firth of Clyde on the Kintyre Peninsula.

Campbeltown’s prevailing spirit, Glen Scotia has a long-standing relationship with Bourbon and American Oak casks. This traditional choice of wood complements the whisky’s slow fermentation and small batch process, delivering underlying balanced fruit character, sweet toffee and background spice.

A final, very short finish in Oloroso Sherry Casks for this release, allows all those classic regional traits to shine through. Glen Scotia 15-Year-Old offers whisky explorers a medley of plump fruits, caramelized sugar and oak, leading to a finish that is slightly dry with a warm spice and hints of honeyed sweetness.

Although Campbeltown may be the smallest of Scotland’s five whisky regions, it is one of the most established. In 1823, Scotland’s Exercise Act made it desirable for illicit distillers in the territory to obtain licenses. Campbeltown, a small seaside port, quickly became the most prominent hub of whisky production, with more than 28 distilleries. Now, only three remain, including the most well-known – Glen Scotia.

Campbeltown native Iain McAlister has served at the helm as Master Distiller for the past 12 years, and the historic distillery still maintains much of its original design dating back to1830s — including the stillroom and dunnage warehouse.
