Houston-based Yellow Rose Distilling released its new Jim Marshall Outlaw Straight Bourbon Whiskey to honor one of the most celebrated and prolific photographers of the 20th Century.

The limited series release, finished at 116 proof (58% alcohol by volume, cask strength), is a blend of 76 Yellow Rose Outlaw casks from the distillery’s oldest barrels (minimum of 48 months).

The debut of Yellow Rose Jim Marshall Outlaw Straight Bourbon Whiskey arrives alongside the  release of a stunning new 216-page photo book, “The Grateful Dead by Jim Marshall: Photos and Stories from the Formative Years, 1966–1977,” honoring the band’s 60th anniversary.

Published by Chronicle Books, the hardcover showcases hundreds of Marshall’s iconic images — many never seen  before — and features an afterword by Grammy-winning musician John Mayer. Over his legendary career, Marshall, who passed away in 2010 at age 74, captured more than 10,000 photographs of the Grateful Dead, ranging from electrifying concert shots to rare behind-the-scenes glimpses of the band  at work and at play.

“Jim Marshall was the original outlaw with a camera – shooting The Dead, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash and every other trailblazing musician of his era,” Matt Appleby, CEO of Zamora Company USA, owner of Yellow Rose Whiskey, said in a news release. “He broke rules, made history and loved his whiskey. Pairing his legacy with a whiskey worthy of his name is more than a tribute, it’s a celebration.”

Yellow Rose Jim Marshall edition is created from 100% yellow corn sourced entirely from local  farmers in Texas. The whiskey will be available at select spirits retailers  for the suggested retail price of $59, and online at YellowRoseDistilling.com, where it will also be sold  together as a combo with the new “The Grateful Dead by Jim Marshall” book.
