Pursuit Spirits announced the release of Pursuit United Kodama Mizunara Bourbon. This limited-edition offering marries the distinctive character of rare Japanese Mizunara oak with an infrared toasted bourbon. 

This bourbon is named “Kodama,” a term for the tree spirits in Japanese folklore. It serves as a nod to the life and spirit of the oak itself, which is fundamental to the brand’s craft of whiskey making.. 

“We knew the world didn’t need yet another Mizunara finished bourbon,” Ryan Cecil, Master Blender and Co-Founder of Pursuit Spirits, said in a news release. “In true Pursuit fashion, we had to be different and craft a blend that would showcase something brand new.” 

The creation of Pursuit United Kodama Mizunara Bourbon is a blend of two lots of whiskey that share the same Triple Mash Bourbon base: 

● Japanese Mizunara Oak: This rare, costly wood imparts exotic spice and dry, woody notes, a flavor profile the founders were passionate about chasing. 

● Infrared-Toasted American Oak: This specially toasted wood delivers an intense, high vanilla character, providing a creamy, sweet foundation to the blend.

The result is bottled at cask strength at 117 Proof. The bourbon is blended to taste, not to formula, in the brand’s constant pursuit of making it better than what already exists on the shelf. 

Pursuit United Kodama Mizunara Bourbon will be available for $89.99 for a limited time at Pursuit Spirits on Whiskey Row starting on Saturday October 11th.
