Milam & Greene Whiskey announced the release of Guadalupe Bass Straight Bourbon, a collector’s edition crafted from three seven-year-old, barrel-strength casks. It is part of the coveted Wildlife Collection, of which each release explores how climate shapes whiskey character. Previous bottlings have sold out within minutes.

The Guadalupe Bass Straight Bourbon is the second Wildlife Collection release of 2025, following the success of earlier editions that captured the attention of collectors and whiskey enthusiasts nationwide. Named for Texas’ official state fish, this expression reflects Milam & Greene’s commitment to both innovation in whiskey-making and dedication to preserving the state’s natural heritage.

“Whiskey is a living spirit, evolving over time in barrels, and climate plays a powerful role in shaping its flavor,” Heather Greene, Milam & Greene Whiskey master blender and CEO, said in a news release. “Each release in our Wildlife Collection begins aging out of state before finishing in Texas, where the intense heat and swings in temperature create bolder, spicier, and sweeter profiles with more vanilla and higher proof. For Guadalupe Bass Straight Bourbon, we pushed the envelope by blending three barrels from the same lot, one of which spent less time aging in Texas. The result is a more layered and nuanced whiskey with added richness and complexity.”

The barrels were distilled in Kentucky with a mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley before aging both in Kentucky and Blanco, Texas. It is bottled at 125.1 proof (62.55% ABV).

“With its high rye content, this bourbon offers both spice and balance, thanks to the interplay of barrels aged under Texas’ intense heat and those with a more classic Kentucky profile,” Rikk Munroe, director of distillery operations, added.

Available exclusively on the Milam & Greene Whiskey website and for distillery pick-up, this limited run of just 454 bottles is priced at $149.99. 

A portion of proceeds benefits the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, supporting conservation across the state.
