Jack Daniel’s Releases Tanyard Hill Rye Single Barrel
The Jack Daniel Distillery announced the release of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye as the latest edition in its annual series of limited whiskeys. The release is a barrel proof Tennessee rye whiskey matured in one of the oldest barrelhouses at the Jack Daniel Distillery.
Tanyard Hill, located next to the acclaimed Coy Hill at the Jack Daniel Distillery, is home to four barrel houses built in the early 1960s. This Tennessee Rye Whiskey entered new handmade American White Oak barrels in November 2015 and matured in Barrel House 1 atop Tanyard Hill, experiencing the deep winter and summer weather cycles of the hollow and resulting in a one-of-a-kind expression fit for the Jack Daniel’s Special Release series.
“The Special Release series has been a great way for us to showcase our craft of whiskey making here in Lynchburg,” Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Chris Fletcher said in a news release. “We’re fortunate to have barrel houses at so many unique locations that produce deep, rich, and complex whiskeys.
“Like Coy Hill was before, Tanyard Hill has been one of the hidden gems for locals familiar with the distillery grounds. We’re now bringing more people into this secret and can’t wait to see what our friends think of this special Tennessee Rye Whiskey.”
Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye features Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Rye Whiskey mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley, and is charcoal filtered before maturing in new oak barrels.
Special Release Tanyard Hill Rye is offered at Barrel Proof, ranging from 65.10%-74.40% ABV (130.2-148.8 Proof) and will be available in 700mL bottles across the U.S. in limited quantities beginning this month, with a suggested retail price of $79.99.
