To honor influential women across the U.S. and beyond, Knappogue Castle Single Malt Irish Whiskey has enlisted 12 well known bartenders to create cocktails inspired by women who have inspired them. The cocktail recipes will be unveiled on social media (#shewhoshakes) every two weeks until International Women’s Day, March 8.

Among the award-winning bartenders participating are Boston’s Ezra Star, New York’s Meaghan Dorman, Los Angeles-based Devon Tarby, Mariena Mercer of Las Vegas and Chicago’s Jenee Craver.

The first recipe was released was created by Denaya Jones, owner of DEEstilled in D.C. Dubbed Black is Gold, the cocktail combines Knappogue Castle 12 Year with Nocino Walnut Liqueur, house-made plum-honey compote and egg white, garnished with gold flakes and an Angostura Bitters crown.

Recipes have been designed so that they can easily be created at home, given that many bars are not operating or are operating at limited capacity due to COVID restrictions.

In addition, Knappogue encourages all female bartenders to get involved; and if they send the charities to the campaign, Knappogue will make a donation to a women’s charity of their choice.
