Cool Whiskey Cocktails to Round Out Bourbon Heritage Month

There are still a few days left in Bourbon Heritage Month, and if you want to try some cool new whiskey-centric cocktail recipes, we’ve got you covered.

We’ve collected several here from some of the top mixologists in some of the coolest clubs in New York (with a Baltimore bonus). From the Xylem Splash to the Boozy Vanilla Coke, you’ll be swimming in new flavor profiles for your favorite bourbons.

Then again, it doesn’t need to be Bourbon Heritage Month. Every month is bourbon month if you make it so.

The oval bar is center stage at Dagon, allowing guests to be fully immersed in the process of these highly skilled bartenders creating their standout cocktails. A standout Bourbon cocktail at Dagon is the Sahara Old Fashioned (pictured above). Here’s how you make it:

Ingredients:

  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • 1 dash black walnut bitters 
  • 1/2oz silan syrup (equal parts of silan and water)
  • 2oz Buffalo trace bourbon infused with dried black mission figs (100gr halved figs per 1 bottle 750ml bourbon steeped 36 hours)

Directions:

  • Combine into mixing glass, add ice and stir for 30 seconds

Claudio’s is celebrating bourbon month with three unique cocktails: Xylem Splash, NOFO Mule, and the Greenport Julep. There’s no better way to close out the summer sitting waterside with a bourbon cocktail in hand. Here are the recipes:

Xylem Splash – 1.5oz Maker’s Mark 46, 0.5oz Crown Amber Maple Syrup, 0.5oz Benedictine, .5oz OJ, .75 Lemon Juice, Shaken poured into Rocks glass, Large ice cube, large orange peel garnish

NOFO Mule – 1.5oz Maker’s Cask Strength, 1oz Ginger syrup, .75oz Lime Juice, 3 Dashes Bitters, 3oz Ginger Beer, Shaken poured into Collins glass, crushed ice, dehydrated lime wheel garnish

Greenport Julep – 2 oz Maker’s Mark bourbon, .75 oz Giffard Banana, 10 Mint leaves, Shaken, double strained into Julep cup, pebble ice, Mint garnish

Boozy Vanilla Coke

Morgenstern’s offers a Boozy Vanilla Coke, and also features a variety of hand-crafted cocktails, Boozy Shakes and Floats. Here’s the recipe for the Boozy Vanilla Coke.

Boozy Vanilla Coke Ingredients: 2 3-oz scoops of ice cream, 2oz of Old Grandad, 4-6oz of coke.
