Buffalo Trace Antique Collection 2024 bottles E.H. Taylor

The Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, which drops every fall, is about to get a new member: Buffalo Trace Distillery reportedly will add an E.H. Taylor Bottled in Bond expression.

The change begins in 2025. The news was reported by Forbes and other news outlets.

It’s the first new addition to the Antique Collection, or BTAC, since Thomas H. Handy became part of the set in 2006. For the past two decades, the lineup has included Handy, Eagle Rare 17-Year, George T. Stagg, William LaRue Weller and Sazerac 18-Year-Old Rye.

The E.H. Taylor expression pays homage to Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr., who purchased what is now the Buffalo Trace Distillery in 1869 and would later become a key driver in the passage of the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897.

“As a founding figure who helped define bourbon quality — not just for Buffalo Trace, but for the entire industry — it’s only fitting that Colonel E.H. Taylor Jr.’s namesake brand takes its place among the collection,” Andrew Duncan, Global Brand Director, Buffalo Trace Distillery said in a statement. “With this release, we proudly pay tribute to Colonel Taylor’s enduring legacy of innovation and craftsmanship.”

No details were released in terms of how the BTAC version of E.H. Taylor Bourbon might differentiate itself, but it’s possible it will be an extra aged expression, like with Sazerac and Eagle Rare BTAC expressions.

Referred to often as “The Father of Modern Bourbon,” Taylor was a revolutionary in the industry in terms of production and also gets credit for imagining bourbon tourism with the Old Taylor Distillery, now known as Castle & Key Distillery.
