Dan and Nancy Garrison, co-founders of Garrison Brothers, presented a $35,500 check to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center last week to support the organization’s research, preservation, and public programming initiatives focused on native plants.

The money was raised through sales of Garrison Brother’s Lady Bird bourbon. 

The donation represents the second major contribution from the distillery’s Good Bourbon For A Good Cause non-profit arm. This marks a continuation of the partnership between the Hill Country distillery and the Texas environmental organization.

Lady Bird bourbon begins with a four-year maturation period in new white American oak barrels before receiving an eight-month infusion of Burleson’s Texas Wildflower Honey. The bourbon then completes its journey with an additional three years in French XO Cognac casks.

Bottled at 114 proof and sealed with distinctive Prairie Purple wax, the expression commands premium pricing that enables the distillery’s charitable commitment. Garrison Brothers donates $5 from every Lady Bird bottle sold directly to the Wildflower Center.

Supporting Lady Bird’s Legacy

The partnership extends beyond financial contributions to honor the environmental legacy of former First Lady Lady Bird Johnson. Nancy Garrison, who previously served on the Wildflower Center’s Advisory Council, emphasized the distillery’s commitment to community impact through their bourbon production.

“At Garrison Brothers, we believe that good bourbon can change the world, and with our Lady Bird bourbon, we hope to bring added awareness to former First Lady Bird Johnson’s legacy and her commitment to preservation of our Texas wild lands and native plants,” Garrison said.

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center serves as the State Botanic Garden & Arboretum of Texas, welcoming over 275,000 visitors annually to its 284-acre facility. As a self-funded unit of The University of Texas at Austin, the center operates a native seed bank, maintains a comprehensive database of North American native plants, and conducts research programs in collaboration with the university.
