Sweetens Cove to Release Two New Expressions
Born out of the iconic nine-hole Sweetens Cove golf course tucked into the foothills of Tennessee, Sweetens Cove Spirits is releasing two new bourbons – a 5-Year Aged Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey and Dunwoody, a 6-Year Aged Wheated Tennessee Bourbon.
The whiskeys strive to capture the spirit of one of golf’s most revered courses while staying true to the authentic and distinctive character of Tennessee Bourbons. These two new releases carry forward the legacy of Sweetens Cove’s award-winning bourbons, capturing the essence of the course and the tradition that inspires them.
The Sweetens Cove 5-Year Aged Tennessee Bourbon ($45) is bottled at 93.7 proof resulting in a smooth, refined and, most of all, drinkable expression.
The Sweetens Cove Dunwoody 6-Year Aged Wheated Tennessee Bourbon ($60), named after the legendary tree that overlooks the course, is a rich and mellow 95-proof.
Founded by a group of passionate golfers, including Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning and tennis great Andy Roddick, alongside a host of others such as prominent developer Skip Bronson and Country Music artist Drew Holcomb to name a few, Sweetens Cove is a liquid extension of the handcrafted, inspiring and whimsical Tennessee course that shares its name.
Designed by renowned golf architects King-Collins as an homage to Augusta National, the course became famous for its charm, character and a unique ritual. With no clubhouse on site, players marked the start of each round with a ceremonial shot of bourbon on the first tee; a moment that gave rise to bottling that excitement for others to enjoy.
“We set out to capture the feeling of that first tee shot — the laughter, the anticipation, the excitement – and pour it into every bottle,” Roddick said in a news release. “Sweetens Cove is about savoring life’s little moments, whether on the golf course with friends or at home with family.”
Sweetens Cove bourbons are currently available at select restaurants, bars, and golf courses in Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Colorado,, South Carolina, and North Carolina, and nationally via online shipping at sweetenscovespirits.com.
