What sets Provenance apart is the barrel selection. At Provenance Estate in Middleburg, Virginia, each cask is hunted down and personally selected by Principal Whiskeymaker Jay West. West built his reputation reviewing thousands of whiskeys and amassed a dedicated following among collectors.
Now, he shifts from evaluation to creation — blending barrels into layered expressions, and when a barrel stands on its own, releasing it as a distinctive single-barrel statement. The barrels rest in newly built rickhouses on the 121-acre historic estate, aging in conditions designed to carry the depth and character only time and place can provide.
Guests can tour the historic property, taste from barrels aging on site, and select their own bourbon through a hands-on “thieving” process, under the Provenance team’s expert guidance. Provenance is dedicated to treating its consumers like knowledgeable partners, providing not only an inside look into the brand and the craftsmanship behind the bottle, but engaging with them directly to create a one-of-a kind, multi-sensory experience that’s meant to be shared. Each pour is a story meant to leave an indelible mark.

Founder Viyas Sundaram has long worked at the intersection of preservation and entrepreneurship, exiting four multi-million dollar companies. From reviving Washington, D.C.’s historic Fountain Inn to co-founding The Bourbon Concierge, a leading retailer in rare and exclusive premium whiskey sourcing, Sundaram has consistently elevated heritage while creating new cultural touchpoints.
