Westland Whiskey Releases 10th Garryana Single Malt
Westland Whiskey announced the release of Garryana American Single Malt 10th Edition (100 Proof, 700ml, $149.99 SRP; 4,608 est. bottles) in Washington State , reflecting a decade of aging in the rare Quercus garryana oak that is native to the Pacific Northwest.
The first-ever age-statement whiskey from Seattle’s leading American single malt producer, Garryana 10th Edition reveals the extraordinary character and flavor that is distinct to Pacific Northwest.
Exploration is at the heart of all that Westland produces as exemplified by the Garryana series, which has unfolded over the past 10 years with rich tones and spice notes. With the 10th edition, aged 10 years, Garryana reaches a pinnacle of unique spice profile unlike any other whiskey, thanks to the wood’s rich flavor compounds.
“There is a magic to working with an oak species unique to our region. A shorthand for showcasing how Single Malt Whiskey makes sense here, from raw materials and climate to inspiration and collaboration,” Shane Armstrong, Westland’s Master Blender who has led the Garryana series from the beginning, said in a news release. “Each edition seeks a supporting cast to concentrate or contrast. This release, our very first to boast an age statement, represents refinement over time, a small gesture to all those tasks tallied in service of something new.”
