Buzzard's Roost Straight from the Barrel pick

Buzzard’s Roost Distillery is introducing an all-new single-barrel pick experience at its Whiskey Row distillery and tasting room.

While barrel picks are common for restaurants, bars and retailers, Buzzard’s Roost is now making the experience available to individuals, including clubs, charities, corporate groups and whiskey-loving friends and families.

“We are excited to make barrel picks available to more people,” Buzzard’s Roost Co-founder and CEO Judy Hollis Jones said in a news release. “Barrel picks are a fun way to taste a hand-selected array of our double-oak whiskeys and work together as a group to pick the one whiskey that everyone loves the most.

Custom bottles of whiskey are an exciting way to commemorate special occasions such as weddings, anniversaries, milestone birthdays and holidays. They also are a great way to surprise and delight business clients or employees. Single-barrel bottles of whiskey are also a proven way to raise money for charities.

Jason Brauner, Buzzard’s Roost co-founder and master blender added, “I’ve spent decades facilitating barrel picks for private customers. Here at Buzzard’s Roost, we’ve worked with several charity groups on barrel picks, where bottles sales benefitted the charity, helping them earn thousands of dollars for their causes.”

How It Works

After booking the Single Barrel Pick Experience online, the process begins with a phone consultation to determine preferences: bourbon or rye, toasted-only or lightly charred and toasted barrels, name and/or logo for the custom seal that will go on the label, and timing. (It generally takes six weeks from barrel pick to receipt of bottles).

Barrel-picks will be scheduled at Buzzard’s Roost Distillery and Tasting Room in Louisville at the guest’s convenience. (Please ask about virtual barrel picks that can be done via Zoom).  Yields are 210-240 bottles for full barrels and 108-118 bottles for half-barrels.

Bourbon averages $95 per bottle; rye averages $85 per bottle. A deposit of 50% is due upon scheduling the barrel pick. Please refer to website for specific details on pricing and delivery.
