Augusta Distillery Adds Pair of New Expressions
Augusta Distillery has expanded its portfolio with the introduction of Small Batch and Wheated Single Barrel, two cask-strength bourbons designed to broaden the distillery’s core offerings. Aged an average of seven years, both expressions are now available online, at the distillery in Augusta, Ky., and in select markets within Augusta Distillery’s 30-state distribution footprint.
Augusta Distillery Small Batch Bourbon is crafted from a curated selection of barrels — never more than eight — chosen to maintain depth, structure and consistency without compromising character. The bourbon opens with notes of caramel, dark cherry and baking spices on the nose, finished by dark cherry, toffee and leather.
Augusta Distillery Wheated Single Barrel Bourbon marks the distillery’s first wheated expression. By replacing rye with wheat, the profile of the bourbon delivers a softer, rounder character while maintaining the structure that defines Augusta Distillery’s standards. Barrel selections emphasize sweetness, texture and integration, resulting in notes of stone fruit and a smooth, extended finish.
“Like all Augusta Distillery expressions, these releases were built with purpose,” Alex Castle, Master Distiller, said in a news release. “Small Batch provides a dependable foundation for our portfolio, while the Wheated Single Barrel expands the conversation without compromising our standards.”
Built to be Opened
The Small Batch ($59.99 suggested retail price) and Wheated Single Barrel ($79.99 suggested retail price) were intentionally positioned to be accessible within the Augusta lineup. Small Batch, in particular, offers an entry point into the distillery’s style without sacrificing age, proof or structure. “We want these bottles opened, poured and enjoyed year-round,” Castle said.
Augusta was built around the idea of bourbon worth slowing down for, as evidenced by its award-winning Buckner’s 10, Buckner’s 13, Buckner’s 15 and Buckner’s 17 expressions. That hasn’t changed, Castle explained, noting both new expressions stand on their own neat or with a splash of water. But a cornerstone of all Augusta Distillery bourbons is structure, which “matters a great deal,” according to Castle.
“We see these as sipping-first bourbons that don’t disappear when thoughtfully mixed,” she said. “The Small Batch has enough depth and proof to hold up beautifully in spirit-forward cocktails, and the Wheated Single Barrel works exceptionally well in classics like an Old Fashioned or Boulevardier.”
Augusta Distillery Small Batch and Wheated Single Barrel are available online, at the distillery (207 Seminary Avenue in Augusta, Ky,) and within the 30 states where Augusta products are sold.
