Cedar Ridge Releases Nine and Three Quarters Rye
The Cedar Ridge Distillery, under the direction of Master Blender Murphy Quint, has released Nine and Three Quarters Rye, a limited release.
“This is the oldest whiskey Cedar Ridge has ever released,” Quint said in a news release. “What excites me most is not the age itself, but everything that unfolded while it matured. Most of the distillate in this bottle was made by people who no longer work here. They laid down the spirit years ago and moved on. All the while that whiskey kept maturing in the barrel, quietly waiting for the current team to finish what the old team started. It is a beautiful reminder of how much this distillery has evolved, and how whiskey quietly bridges the past with the future.”
He continued: “This is a milestone release for the distillery because this represents nearly a decade of patient Iowa maturation. In fact, it’s one of the oldest expressions ever to leave our barrel shed.”
Cedar Ridge Nine and Three Quarters Rye is a limited edition that utilizes the distillery’s high malted rye mash bill. The extended aging has influenced the classic toasted biscuit notes, turning them into a rich, deep oak profile. All of the barrels used for this limited-edition expression feature a blend of barrels aged at least nine years, with the majority reaching nine years and nine months, with one even reaching ten years old.
The mash bill in this release consists of 85% rye, 12% corn, and 3% malted barley. The rye was aged in new American Oak Char 3 barrels.
Cedar Ridge Nine and Three Quarters Rye is available at the distillery, online, and at select retailers nationwide. It is bottled at 115% abv, 57.9%, and has an SRP of $59.99
