Natterjack Irish Whiskey, a brand that embraces both Irish and American whiskey production, announced that its once-limited expression, The Mistake, is now a permanent part of its whiskey portfolio. 

A production mishap, the expression resulted from whiskey that had been accidentally left in 46 of the producer’s Virgin American oak barrels for an extra year. Soon after its release, The Mistake quickly captured the attention of whiskey enthusiasts with its surprising complexity and rich, heavily oaked flavor profile, similar to Bourbon. 

Leaning into their mistake proved successful, as the liquid quickly earned consumer praise and demand.

“What started as an error became one of our most celebrated releases,” Aidan Mehigan, CEO and Founder of Natterjack Irish Whiskey, said in a news release. “We’ve always believed in pushing the boundaries of traditional Irish whiskey, and The Mistake truly embodies that philosophy. It’s a nod to our roots but with a bit of rebellion.”
