Hinterhaus Distilling to Release Trapper’s Oath 21-Year Rye
Hinterhaus Distilling announces the release of its 4th and final bottling of Trapper’s Oath Rye Whiskey 21 Year on August 29, 2025.
“Nearly 4 years ago, we embarked on a whiskey aging and blending adventure with our first release of Trapper’s Oath rye whiskey,” Nate Randall, Head Distiller/Blender/Owner of Hinterhaus, said in a news release. “It has proven to be one of the most memorable whiskeys we’ve yet had the pleasure of working with.”
The three prior batches have long since sold out, with rye whiskey and extra-aged whiskey enthusiasts patiently awaiting for the 4th bottling. The distillery worked with a carefully selected extra-aged rye whiskey (53% rye 47%) corn from Canada by extending its aging process at Hinterhaus’ 4000ft elevation in the California Sierra mountains.
“We age traditionally in our distillery’s non-temp controlled aging warehouse which enjoys four distinctive seasons and plenty of drastic temperature swings throughout the year,” Hinterhaus co-owner Bonnie Boglioli-Randall said. “We chose a road less travelled for this special rye by putting it into our own ex-bourbon casks which also aged stout beer for a nearby brewery for over 3 years.”
