Fourth & Neat: A New Food Pyramid?
In their first episode in the New Year, Fourth & Neat hosts Fred Minnick and Jared Allen discuss the 1-900 Numbers of the 1990s, the new food pyramid, the Minnesota Vikings, a teacher who gave kids alcohol and Fred reviews the new Eagle Rare 17 Year.
That’s right, a new food pyramid. Secretary of Health & Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced the revised dietary guidelines this week, placing an emphasis on proteins, dairy and healthy fats over grains and carbs.
“As secretary of Health and Human Services, my message is clear: Eat real food,” Kennedy said, calling the change “the most significant reset of federal nutrition policy in history.”
“I don’t 100% agree with it,” Jared, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, says. He cites studies that show more healthful trends include a moderate protein intake without overly taxing muscles with heavy workouts. He also cites that a big factor in the grains we consume is how those grains are grown and processed.
As for the 1-900 numbers, well, perhaps that was just precursor to trends like Only Fans. Fred tells a cautionary tale about a college friend.
Also, during the show, Fred finishes off his 2025 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection tasting by sipping on Eagle Rare 17 Year.
